  1. What is CheckAid?
CheckAid is a simple, portable tool, or "aid" for implementing checklists. The idea for this tool came from The Who Safe Surgery Checklist for daily preparation of the operating room for a patient. CheckAid brings together two simple yet powerful aspects: "point of care use and "version" control. Now, one can have in hand, at the point of care, the most recent version of a particular checklist.
  2. How do I import or update a checklist?
Checklists are imported off of a server and stored locally in the main "Checklists" table. To import a checklist off of the server, there must be active internet access. Make sure the main "Checklists" table is showing and then tap the '+' button in the footer bar on the left. This will open a new view entitled "Import" which will have a list of checklists sorted by institutions. Find the checklist you want to import and tap the "Load" button next to it.
  3. Who developed the checklists?
The checklists were developed by local representatives within an institution. Contact support to get the name of the representative from your institution.
  1. How do you add or edit checklists for an institution?
Contact your representative if you want to add a checklist, or change an existing one. Contact support to get the name of your representative if you do not know who it is.
  2. Why can't I edit the checklists myself within the app?
The decision was to make the checklists conform to local institution standards. That way, the local institutions can decide as a group what the checklist should be. If each individual could change the checklist as they deemed appropriate then there would be no uniformity in the checklist execution.
  3. How do you check off an item?
Tap on each item to check it off. Continue checking each item you want to check off. Alternatively, the user can select the "Check Mode" that shows in the bottom left of the footer. This turns on a "Check" button in the footer that can be used to check off items sequentially. There is also a "Skip" button that will allow the user to skip over an item.

  1. Can I make a note about an item I've skipped?
Yes. Tap the "compose" button in the footer to bring up a note pad. This can be used to jot down any notes about a particular item. For example, the user skips over an item that says "IV tubing" and they want to remember that they want to get a specific type. They could jot that down in the notes and then when they are gathering that item in the central core, they can recall what item they meant to get.
  2. Can I search for a specific checklist?
Yes. Tap the search button in the footer of the main checklist table and a search bar will appear at the top. Enter your search words to find the checklist you are looking for. If you tap the search button while the search bar is showing, the search bar will disappear. Alternatively, the user can use the index letters to the right of the screen to quickly navigate to checklists beginning with that letter.
